TFL's 'Please Offer Me a Seat' badge aims to make it easier for people with disabilities, invisible impairments, conditions or illnesses to get a seat. The free badge will make it easier to let other passengers know that you need a seat, as asking for someone's seat on public transport can potentially be embarrassing and awkward. Also, on the flip side, it's not always easy to spot someone who might need your seat.
After a six-week trial, in which 98% of the 1,200 participants said they'd recommend it, the 'Please Offer Me a Seat' badge has been rolled out across London's transport network. Anyone with a condition or illness that's helped by sitting down can apply for a free badge, it is thought the badge will particularly help those who have a condition or illness which is not immediately visible to others.
